Kristin Armstrong zdobyła złoty medal olimpijski igrzysk w Pekinie w kolarskiej jeździe indywidualnej na czas. Amerykanka pokonała trasę w czasie 34.51,72. Wyprzedziła o 24,29 s Brytyjkę Emmie Pooley oraz o 59,27 Szwajcarkę Karen Thuerig.
